Sultry Pinks Eye Shadow Tutorial

Friday, May 27th, 2011 In Blog, Tutorial / Comments Off

Create this look using EyeSpice Products:

Eye products you will need:

- A white cream eye shadow such as Heavenly Naturals Chubby Cream Eye Shadow in White
- A shimmery, pink shade such as OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Clove
- A matte, brown shade such as Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Chocolate Brown
- A darker brown shade such as Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Kitten or FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Bitter Bark
- A skin-coloured shade such as your mineral foundation for smoothing away rough edges
- Optional: A pale shimmery, pink highlight such as OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Platonic
Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black or Stellar

Brushes you will need:

Sigma E55 Eye Shading Brush or Sigma E60 Large Shader Brush
Sigma E30 Pencil Brush and/or Sigma E20 Short Shader
Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush or Sigma E35 White Tapered Blending Brush
Sigma E05 EyeLiner Brush or Sigma E65 Small Angle Brush for applying eye liner

Step One: Apply Heavenly Naturals Chubby Cream Eye Shadow in White to your upper eyelid, blending it out with your finger. Make sure you also pull this cream eyeliner down to the inner corner of your eye (for Step Five).

Step Two: On top of the cream eye shadow, use your Sigma E55 Eye Shading Brush or Sigma E60 Large Shader Brush to apply your shimmery, pink eye shadow across your entire lid. To enhance the vivacity of this colour further, mix with a tiny drop of Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops before applying to your eye lid.

Step Three: Use your Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush or Sigma E35 White Tapered Blending Brush to create a darker crease. Apply your matte brown shade to the outer corner of your eye lid in small circles. Blend this colour across the crease of your eyelid using a windscreen wiper like motion.

Step Four: Using your Sigma E30 Pencil Brush or your Sigma E20 Short Shader, apply your darker brown shade to your upper eyelid, very close to the lash line. The Sigma Short Shader is perfect for this. Using the Sigma Pencil Brush draw this dark brown shade down underneath your lower eyelid as well. Still using your Sigma Pencil Brush, pull the dark brown colour out past the very outer corner of your eye and someway along your crease. Blend well. This darker shade right at the corner of your eye will help to define your eyes a little bit more. If there are any harsh edges remaining, erase them away using a clean fluffy brush and your mineral powder foundation.

Step Five (optional): With a clean Sigma E30 Pencil Brush apply a small amount of pale pink highlight (we use OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Platonic) to the inner corner of your eye, on top of the Heavenly Naturals Chubby Cream Eye Shadow in White. With a soft fluffy brush such as the Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush or Sigma E35 White Tapered Blending Brush, apply this pale pink shade as a brow highlight.

Step Six: Use your Sigma E05 EyeLiner Brush or Sigma E65 Small Angle Brush to apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black or Stellar to your upper and lower water lines.

Step Seven: Apply a couple of coats of your favorite mascara to your lashes and you are ready to go!

Rio Tropical Carnival – Eye Shadow Tutorial

Friday, January 28th, 2011 In Blog, Tutorial / No Comments

Create this look using EyeSpice Products:

Eye products you will need:

- An eye shadow primer such as OCC Skin:Primer
- A bright, fushia pink eye shadow such as OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Cherry Bomb
- A bright orange eye shadow such as Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Danger
- A bright yellow eye shadow such as FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Bee Incredible
- A white eye shadow such as FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Sea Salt or Snow Cone
Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black or Stellar
-
Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Silk White

Brushes you will need:

Sigma E55 Eye Shading Brush or Sigma E60 Large Shader Brush
Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush or Sigma E35 White Tapered Blending Brush
- Sigma E30 Pencil Brush
Sigma E05 EyeLiner Brush or Sigma E65 Small Angle Brush for applying eye liner

Step One: In this look an eye shadow primer is important to ensure a really vibrant look. Apply a thin coat of primer such as our OCC Skin:Primer which can be used on both the face and eyes.

Step Two: On top of the primer, use your Sigma E55 Eye Shading Brush or Sigma E60 Large Shader Brush to pack on your fusia pink eye shadow (we use OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Cherry Bomb). Apply this all over your lid, from the inner corner, to the outer edge creating a wing.

Step Three: Using the same brush, apply a small amount of your bright orange eye shadow to blend out the upper edge of the pink (we use Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Danger).

Step Four: Using your Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush, apply your bright yellow eye pigment to the very edges of the pink and orange as if applying a highlight shade under your eye brows (we use FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Bee Incredible which is an intense and highly pigmented bright yellow).

Step Five: Make sure your Sigma E55 Eye Shading Brush or Sigma E60 Large Shader Brush is clean before applying the white. Using upward strokes, apply the white eye shadow to the inner corner of your eye and pull this upwards towards your eye brow. This helps to diffuse the edges of the bright pigments. We use FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Sea Salt or Snow Cone as our white pigment. With this same white shade, apply a small amount right under your eye brows, as a highlight to blend into the edge of the yellow.

Step Six: Use a Sigma E30 Pencil Brush on your lower eye lid. Apply your yellow shade to the inner corner from the tear duct, to about half way along your lower eye lid. Apply the fushia pink from half way along, to the outer corner.

Step Seven: Use a Sigma E05 EyeLiner Brush or Sigma E65 Small Angle Brush to apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black or Stellar to your upper lash line. Apply this from the inner corner of your eye, close to the lash line and across to create a wing at the outer corner. Apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Silk White to your lower water line.

Step Eight: Apply two coats of your favorite mascara to both your upper and lower lashes. For extra fun, add some thick dark false eye lashes.

And Don’t Forget…

Because this is such a bright eye shadow look, it is important to get the rest of your face right as well. Don’t forget these important steps:

- Make sure you fill in your eye brows which will frame your eye shadow creation. A bit of Heavenly Naturals Eye Brow Tint applied with a Sigma E65 Small Angle Brush does wonders! Check out our recent Handy Hint on creating perfect brows!
- Offset your tropical coloured eyes with a pretty pink lip. OCC Lip Tar is highly pigmented and very long lasting. Try Pageant, Anime, Safety Orange or Strumpet to go with this look, or create a mixture of your own.
- Although bright eyes and bright lips calls for only a very subtle blush shade, it is important to add at least a small amount, so you don’t look washed out from the colour around your eyes and lips. Add a dusting of FaceFront CheekUP Blush Powder to give you a very subtle and healthy glow.

Silver Greens Eye Shadow Tutorial

Create this look using EyeSpice Products:

Eye products you will need:

- OCC Skin: Primer
Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Envious
Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops
- A silver eye shadow such as OCC Loose Colour Concnetrates in Ironic or FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Heroic or Heavenly Naturals Pure Mineral Eye Shadow in Tinsel
- OCC Loose Colour Concnetrates in Chlorophyll
Heavenly Naturals Pure Mineral Eye Shadow in Dream Girl
Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Platinum (optional)
Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black or Stellar

Brushes you will need:

- Sigma SS266/E65 Small Angle Brush
- Sigma SS219/E30 Pencil Brush
- Sigma SS194/F70 Concealer Brush (or another flat paddle brush)
Sigma SS239/E55 Eye Shading Brush
- Sigma SS275/E70 Medium Angled Shading Brush (optional)
- Sigma SS209/E05 Eye Liner Brush (optional)

Step One: Apply an eye shadow primer such as OCC Skin: Primer to your eyelids.

Step Two: Apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Envious using a Sigma SS266/E65 Small Angle Brush, or a Sigma SS219/E30 Pencil Brush, or simply a cotton bud. Apply from the outer corner of the upper eye lid, along the crease to about two thirds of the way along. Blend upwards with a cotton bud or your finger.

Step Three: Mix a drop of Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops with your selected silver eye shadow. Apply this to the bottom half of your upper lid using a small flat eye shadow brush such as the Sigma SS194/F70 Concealer Brush.

Step Four: Using the Sigma SS219/E30 Pencil Brush, apply OCC Loose Colour Concnetrates in Chlorophyll to your crease on top of the green gel liner. Try not to blend this colour into the silver. Be careful to keep a nice wing shape at the outer edge of your upper lid. Do this be applying tape (refer to our recent MissChievous tutorial), or alternatively use eye makeup remover and a cotton bud to create the sharp line.

Step Five: Apply Heavenly Naturals Pure Mineral Eye Shadow in Dream Girl to the upper edge of the green using a Sigma SS239/E55 Eye Shading Brush. Take this from the outer corner (emphasising the wing), in towards the bridge of the nose about three quarters of the way.

Step Six: Take a highlight shade, or your mineral foundation, or an appropriate shade out of the Coastal Scents 88 Piece Makeup Palette. Use any fluffy brush with this skin toned colour to blend out the edges of your eye shadow. We like using the Sigma SS275/E70 Medium Angled Shading Brush because of the angle of the bristles makes it perfect for blending beneath your eye brow. Alternatively, just use the brush dry (without any product on) to blend out the edges of your eye shadow.

Step Seven (optional): Again using your Sigma SS266/E65 Small Angle Brush, apply a line of Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Platinum to the outer corner of your eyelid, to create a wing carrying on the line created by your lower water line. Also apply a small amount to the inner corner of your eye and blend out with your finger. Set this with a touch of your silver eye shadow using your Sigma SS194/F70 Concealer Brush again.

Step Eight: Using your Sigma SS266/E65 Small Angle Brush or Sigma SS209/E05 Eye Liner Brush apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black to your upper lash line, close to the lashes. Also apply to the lower waterline and lash line. Go over this on the lower lid only with a Sigma SS219/E30 Pencil Brush and a small amount of OCC Loose Colour Concnetrates in Chlorophyll.

Finally: Apply a coat of your favorite mascara, and you’re ready to go!

Halloween Makeup

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 In Blog, Tutorial / No Comments

Well, it’s October and that means only one thing to me… Halloween parties are on their way! Gone are the days of drab halloween costumes like ghosts, witches and skeletons. How about putting most of your effort into your face, and the costume can then be played down somewhat. Create beautiful fairies and scenery, or less beautiful ghoulish creations.

Some creations are a mix of makeup and water-based coloured makeup paints. To purchase the Tropical palette or Paradise palette that MissChievous uses in a few of her looks, these can be purchased through Mehron, however international orders must be phoned through. Alternatively you could use face paint.

Most of these creations can be made using the Coastal Scents 88 Piece Makeup Palette as your eye shadow. Consider investing in this, rather than individual shadows recommended below. Pale skin can be accomplished through use of the Coastal Scents Contour and Blush Palette, which contains a white powder for highlighting.

Jewells can be purchased from Spotlight, craft stores or beading shops.

Below are some of our favorite creations, with suggestions on the type of products you can use.

Throughout July and August, we asked you to send in an image of an eye shadow look that you would like to learn how to create. The person with the winning entry would have their chosen look made into a tutorial, and they would win all of the products used to create it!

Nicki from Christchurch sent us this image, and we LOVE it! Congratulations Nicki, all the products listed on this page are on their way to you.

Untitled
Create this look using EyeSpice Products

Face products you will need:
- Heavenly Naturals Pure Mineral Foundation in a shade suitable to your skin colour
- FaceFront CheekUP Blush Powder in Afundadoodle or a shade suitable to your skin colour
- OCC Lip Tar in Hush or Conquest

Eye products you will need:
- The base colour is FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Julie’s Revenge
- For the crease colour, use either FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Death By Rubies (for a darker crease), or OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Cherry Bomb (for the pink colour shown in the photo – but be very light-handed with this colour as it can be very intense)
- Also use OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Glisten
- For the inner corner highlight use OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Platonic
- We recommend using Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops with the inner corner highlight colour, but this is optional
- As an eye liner, use Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black

Brushes you will need:
- Sigma SS150 Large Powder Brush, or Sigma SS182 Buffer Brush
- Sigma SS239 Eye Shading Brush
- Sigma SS224 Tapered Blending Brush
- Sigma SS219 Pencil Brush
- Sigma SS266 Small Angle Brush or Sigma SS209 Eye Liner Brush
- Sigma SS187 Duo-Fibre Brush (optional)

Step One (Base): Apply Heavenly Naturals Pure Mineral Foundation with a Sigma SS150 Large Powder Brush, or Sigma SS182 Buffer Brush. As this look has a large amount of colour around the eyes, you want to make sure your skin is buffed to a very smooth finish to ensure any imperfections are well camouflaged. Buff in an egg beater like motion. Don’t be afraid of intense motion. The more you buff, the more luminous your face will appear, as buffing creates more even coverage.

Step Two (Eyes): As an optional step, apply your eye shadow base. We use FaceFront Survival Paint. Because the products used in this tutorial are so vibrant and long lasting, it is not imperitive that you use a base prior to applying.

Step Three (Eyes): Using your Sigma SS239 Eye Shading Brush, apply FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Julie’s Revenge to the lid, from the crease down.

Step Four (Eyes): If you want a darker crease colour to give your eyes more depth, use FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Death By Rubies for your crease colour. If you want to create the look exactly as it is in this image, use OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Cherry Bomb. Apply your crease colour with a Sigma SS224 Tapered Blending Brush. Apply a very small amount at a time, and build up to the required depth. Apply in small circles at the outer corner of your eye then sweep the brush in a windscreen wiper like motion across your crease. Use a Sigma SS219 Pencil Brush to bring this  crease colour from the outer corner, down under your eye too.

Step Five (Eyes): To diffuse the edges of the eye pigment, apply a small amount of OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Glisten. Blend this out well around the edges of your upper and lower lid with your Sigma SS224 Tapered Blending Brush.

Step Six (Eyes): Using your Sigma SS219 Pencil Brush, apply a dab of OCC Loose Colour Concentrates inPlatonic to the inner corner of your eye. Pull this colour up to blend into the upper lid, and pull it down across the inner half of the bottom lid. To create more depth here, dip your brush in a drop of Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops, and then into your inner corner highlight colour. Apply this directly underneath the inner corner of your eye to create a very bright-eyed appearance.

Step Seven (Eyes): Using your Sigma SS266 Small Angle Brush or Sigma SS209 Eye Liner Brush, apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black to both your upper and lower water line.

Step Eight (Eyes): Apply two coats of your favorite mascara, and your eyes are done!

Step Nine (Cheeks): Using either your powder foundation brush, or a Sigma SS187 Duo-Fibre Brush, apply FaceFront CheekUP Blush Powder in Afundadoodle to the apples of your cheeks, and then pull the colour up towards your temples.

Step Ten (Lips): Using your Sigma SS209 Eye or Lip Liner Brush, apply OCC Lip Tar in Hush or Conquest to your lips.

This tutorial is for a full face of makeup. The products used in this tutorial represent a good set of products to have in your makeup bag for any occasion. For something more wearable for the day time, try swapping the strong colours used in this tutorial, out for greys, silvers, browns or golds. The techniques used in application remain the same, just the colours differ. To help you in determining what colours you should use, have a look at our upcoming blogs related to eye colour, and the best shades to mix together in one look.

There is not a lot we would change with this particular chosen look. One thing that could be done to top the look off perfectly, would be to create a slightly darker and nicely shaped eye brow. For more information on this, have a read of our recent blog showing how to create perfect brows. Isn’t it funny that you didn’t notice the eye brows when you first looked at the image, but now that we have pointed it out to you, it’s hard NOT to notice. It’s one of those things. Once you start to perfect your own eye brows, you will notice those of others immediately!

Have fun creating this look, and thanks again Nicki for an original, vibrant competition entry.

Androgynous Dark Eye Shadow Tutorial

Sunday, August 15th, 2010 In Blog, Tutorial / Comments Off

Create this look using EyeSpice Products:

Products you will need:

- Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Indigo Blue
-
Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Mystery or Genius
-
Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black, or your favorite black eye liner pencil
-
Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Emo
-
HeavenlyNaturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Vanilla Crush or a highlight shade from your Coastal Scents 88 Piece Makeup Palette

- Eyebrows: FaceFront Survival Paint and Heavenly Naturals Eyebrow Tint in Jet Black or Brunette
- Lips:
OCC Lip Tar in Conquest or Complex

Brushes you will need:
Sigma SS275 Angled Shading Brush
Sigma SS224 Tapered Blending Brush
Sigma SS219 Pencil Brush
Sigma SS266 Small Angle Brush
- Sigma SS239 Eye Shading Brush
- Sigma SS209 Lip and Eye Liner Brush (for lips)

Step One: Apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Indigo Blue to your upper lid using a fluffy brush such as a Sigma SS275 Angled Shading Brush, but really any fluffy brush will do. Note, we normally apply gel liners using fine tipped brushes, but for this look, we are applying it right across the lid, rather than in a defined line. Blend this out well so it is not too thick. Create the basic shape high on the lid, tapering out to a rough point at the outer corner and pulling the colour down under the outer lower lid.

Step Two: Using your Sigma SS224 Tapered Blending Brush, start applying Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Mystery or Genius in your crease. This can be blended across from the outer corner, to the inner corner right to the bridge of the nose. Blend this upwards to just under the eye brow. Bring the colour down across the lower lid, close to the lash line.

Step Three: Take a black eye liner pencil, or your Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black. Apply right around the eye using the pencil or your Sigma SS266 Small Angle Brush. Thick on the upper lid, bring down along the lower lash line and across to the inner corner of the eye. Blend this out somewhat using your finger.

Step Four: Use your Sigma SS219 Pencil Brush to apply Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Emo. Apply directly on top of the black eye liner on your lid, and then across the lash line of your lower lid. Blend this out using the same Sigma SS224 Tapered Blending Brush. Blend, blend, blend. Clean up rouge pigment from your face by rolling a cotton bud firmly across the pigment.

Step Five: Select an appropriate highlight shade. A matte colours such as HeavenlyNaturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Vanilla Crush, or any of the highlight shades in the Coastal Scents 88 Piece Makeup Palette work best. Use your Sigma SS239 Eye Shading Brush to apply small amounts of highlight shade right around your eye, to blur the edges of your eye shadow. If you remove too much of the black, add it back on with your Sigma SS219 Pencil Brush.

Step Six: Ensure you have well defined eye brows for this look. Apply FaceFront Survival Paint Eye and Brow Primer to your eye brow. Using your Sigma SS266 Small Angle Brush, apply Heavenly Naturals Eyebrow Tint in Jet Black or Brunette to fill in your eyebrows. If your eye brows naturally finish short, use your brush to pull the eyebrow pigment out to a point, to extend the line of your eyebrow.

Step Seven: Apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black to your water line, then apply two coats of mascara.

Step Eight: To effectively erase your lips, either apply your pale liquid concealer or foundation, or apply a very pale OCC Lip Tar such as Conquest or Complex. Apply using your Sigma SS209 Lip and Eye Liner Brush.

Aphrodite Wearable Eye Shadow Look

Friday, August 6th, 2010 In Blog, Tutorial / No Comments

Create this look using EyeSpice Products:

Eye products you will need:
- Eyeshadow primer such as FaceFront Survival Paint
- Coastal Scents 88 Piece Makeup Palette
- FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Skinny Dipper (Optional)
Coastal Scents Gel Eye Liner in Truffle
- Heavenly Naturals Chubby Cream Eye Shadow in White
-
Coastal Scents Gel Eye Liner in True Black

- FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Butter Me Up (Optional)
- Heavenly Naturals Glitter Eye Liner in Disco Ball

Brushes you will need:
Sigma SS252 Shader Brush
Sigma SS224 Tapered Blending Brush
Sigma SS219 Pencil Brush
Sigma SS209 Eye Liner Brush
Sigma SS266 Small Angle Brush

Step One: Apply a small amount of eye shadow primer to your lid. We use FaceFront Survival Paint.

Step Two: The various earthy tones that are used to create this look are made up from shades in the Coastal Scents 88 Piece Makeup Palette. First select a skin-coloured shadow, a few shades darker than your skin tone. Using your Sigma SS224 Tapered Blending Brush, apply this shade to the outer corner of your eyelid and across the crease.

Step Three: From your Coastal Scents 88 Piece Makeup Palette, select a shade slightly darker than the first. Using your Sigma SS219 Pencil Brush take up a little bit of pigment on your brush. This will be used to re-shape the crease, to give your eyes the appearance of being bigger. Use the brush back and forwards to create a faint shadow from your real crease in the middle of your upper lid, towards the bridge of your nose. This false crease shadow will be above your real inner crease. If you need to, use your SSigma SS224 Tapered Blending Brush to fade the shadow out.

Step Four: Again from your Coastal Scents 88 Piece Makeup Palette, select a chocolate brown shade. Apply this to the outer corner of your eye using your Sigma SS252 Shader Brush. With the flat part of the brush, apply this shade as if to coat your upper lashes, which will result in application to the very lower edge of your upper eye lid. Then concentrate the colour in the very outer corner of your eye and crease.

Step Five: Using your Sigma SS224 Tapered Blending Brush, apply FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Skinny Dipper to your inner, upper lid in a small patting motion. Although this effectively blends into the other colours to create a softer appearance, try not to blend it too much. If you don’t have FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Skinny Dipper, you could use a lighter shade from your Coastal Scents 88 Piece Makeup Palette, select one lighter than your skin colour to give you a highlight effect.

Step Six: Using your Sigma SS266 Small Angle Brush or your Sigma SS209 Eye Liner Brush, apply Coastal Scents Gel Eye Liner in Truffle to your upper lid, in a line close to the lash line. Allow this line to become thicker as it approaches the outside of your eye, and create a wing out from the very outer corner of your eye. Before the liner dries, smudge the end of the wing out with your finger to soften the point.

Step Seven: With your clean Sigma SS219 Pencil Brush, apply a small amount of Heavenly Naturals Chubby Cream Eye Shadow in White right underneath the brown wing you have created. This creates a more defined shape to your eye shadow look. Ensure the white cream shadow is blended in well with your brush.

Step Eight: Using your Sigma SS266 Small Angle Brush or your Sigma SS209 Eye Liner Brush, apply Coastal Scents Gel Eye Liner in True Black to your water line. Smudge the edge out with your finger, to bring some of the colour down onto your lower lid, close to the lash line. Using your Sigma SS219 Pencil Brush apply your lightest shadow shade to your lower lid. Then graduate to your darker shade which can be applied to the outer corner of your lower lid, again close to the lash line.

Step Nine: To add a bit more shimmer to the lash line, you can add a line of FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Butter Me Up Up using your Sigma SS209 Eye Liner Brush. This is optional.

Step Ten: Apply Heavenly Naturals Glitter Eye Liner in Disco Ball very close to the upper lash line, and on top of the wing.

Step Eleven: Apply your favourite mascara, and you’re ready to go!

Because this look utilises earthy tones, it is appropriate to wear a bright red colour on your lips. We recommend Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tar in NSFW. Alternatively, a nude lip would go nicely with this look. We recommend Coastal Scents Smacks Lip Gloss (try out Star Dustin). Check out our Handy Hint blog entry on the Perfect Lip.

Handy Hint – Brow Highlight

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010 In Blog, Handy Hints / No Comments

One of the best kept secrets to perfect eye shadow, is the use of a brow highlight. Brow highlight can be used:

  • To lighten your brow bone making your eyes appear bigger.
  • To diffuse and soften the edges of your eye shadow out into your natural skin colour.
  • As an eraser or blur tool, to hide mistakes.

Your choice of highlight colour and texture is completely up to you, but here are some simple guidelines:

  • When going for a skin-toned colour, choose a colour that matches your natural skin colour, or a bit lighter.
  • In the evenings you may want to try pearl or iridescent highlight colours. These are white based, but may have a slight pink, apricot or golden hue. Select a hue that matches your skin tone. If you have yellow undertones, pick a highlight with a golden hue such as OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Lustre. If you have pink undertones, pick a highlight with a pink hue such as OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Platonic. If you have warm undertones, pick a highlight with an apricot hue such as OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Titania. Alternatively you could select a pearl eye shadow with a silver hue such as FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Sea Salt. For a straight white highlight, try FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Snow Cone.
  • If you have any texture on your brow area, choose a matte eye shadow with minimal shimmer. The shimmer can sometimes draw the eye to imperfections.

The following products can be used as highlight shades:

When applying highlight, use the following brush types:

  • For a powder highlight, apply with a loose, soft brush such as the Sigma SS275 Medium Angled Shading Brush.
  • When using a cream eye shadow, apply roughly to the brow area, then blend into your skin and the edges of your eye shadow with a concealer brush such as a Sigma SS194 Concealer Brush

It is difficult to explain the true concept of brow highlighting, and there are not a lot of videos available on this. The best way to see the benefits, is to try it out. And practise until you get it right.

Start with application of your eye shadow primer. Follow your usual makeup routine, applying your base colour and a crease colour to add attractive shadow to your eyes. You may notice the edges are not even, and that there is a distinct line between your eye shadow and your skin:

Messy Eye Shadow

Using the appropriate brush, apply your highlight colour directly under the eyebrow in a sweeping motion. Make sure you blend this well into the edges of your eye shadow. You will notice immediately that the harsh lines are blended out, creating a clean gradient between you eye shadow and your skin.

The highlight colour can also be pulled down under your eyelid to soften harsh lines on your lower lid, or to clean up any mistakes.

Highlight Applied

Tips and Tricks:

  • Look to extend the highlight application into the inner corner of the eye to open up the eye and give a more youthful and fresh appearance. This is particularly effective with pearl highlight shadows.
  • When you first start out applying highlight, play around a bit until you get it just right.
  • For more on highlighting and contouring of the whole face, check out our Coastal Scents Contour and Blush Palettes, and this great xSparkage video showing you how to use it!

Silver Charm Eye Shadow Tutorial

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010 In Blog, Tutorial / No Comments

Pure Mineral Eyes

Eye products you will need:
- Eyeshadow primer such as FaceFront Survival Paint
- Silver: Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Tinsel or FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Xenon Zephyr
- Charcoal: Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Dream Girl or FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Heroic
Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Platinum (optional)
-
Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black (optional)

- Heavenly Naturals Glitter Eye Liner in Disco Ball (optional)

Brushes you will need:
Sigma SS239 eye shading brush
- Sigma SS224 tapered blending brush
- Sigma SS219 pencil brush
- Sigma SS209 eye liner brush or Sigma SS266 small angle brush

Step One: Apply a small amount of eye shadow primer to your lid. We use FaceFront Survival Paint.

***Handy hint: To ensure a sharp line where your makeup finishes at the outer corner of your eye, take a strip of opaque sellotape and stick it to your skin in the right position at the corner of your eye. Make sure it slopes from the very outer corner of your eye, up towards the outer edge of your eye brow. This will create the sharp line that can be seen in the photo.

Step Two: Using your Sigma SS239 eye shading brush apply silver eye shadow to the upper eyelid from the inner corner to the outer corner (if you are using tape, don’t be afraid to brush up on top of the tape). Apply the silver high up on your eyelid, but not as far as your eye brow, we will come back to this later. With your Sigma SS219 pencil brush, apply a small amount of silver to the inner corner of your eye. Also apply close to the lash line, underneath your eye, so you end up with silver right around your eye.

Step Three: Using your Sigma SS224 blending brush, apply charcoal to the outer corner of your eyelid and blend this in slowly to the sliver shadow. Eventually you will be sweeping the blending brush right across the lid, but be careful not the spread the colour out too much. You want a nice transition from silver in the inner corner, to charcoal in the outer corner.  You may need to apply more charcoal to the outer corner as you build the dark colour up on the outer eyelid. With your Sigma SS219 pencil brush apply your charcoal shade on the outer corner of the lower lid, close to the lash line.

Step Four (optional): Using your Sigma SS266 small angle brush or your Sigma SS209 eye liner brush, apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Platinum to your lower water line.

Step Five (optional): Using your Sigma SS266 small angle brush or your Sigma SS209 eye liner brush, apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black to your upper lid, in a line close to the lash line. Start the line very thin in the inner eye, and allow it to get thicker as it makes its way towards the outer eye. Apply True Black lightly to the water line right in the inner corner of the eye.

Step Six: To soften the upper edges of the charcoal, take the Sigma SS239 you were using with your silver colour. Dip your brush in the silver shadow and tap away the excess. Apply sparingly under your eye brow, and blend this into the charcoal edges to diffuse the colour out.

Step Seven (optional): For the evenings, add a bit of glam to you look by applying Heavenly Naturals Glitter Eye Liner in Disco Ball (sliver) to you upper eye lid, close to the lash line. This will go over top of the black gel eye liner if you have applied this.

Step Eight: If you used tape to create a straight edge, remove this very gently and you should see a nice crisp line where you make up is applied perfectly.

Step Nine: Apply 2 lashings of your favourite mascara, and you’re ready to go!

Eye Shadow Primer – FaceFront Survival Paint

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010 In Blog, Handy Hints, Product Review / No Comments

A lot of people think Eye Shadow Primer is simply a base for you to apply eye shadow on top of.  Giving your eye shadow a longer life, and getting rid of unsightly creases. But there is more to it than just this…..
In this blog we showcase FaceFront Survival Paint, which is our chosen eye shadow primer. We’ll show you how best to get optimal results from your primer. Here are some simple hints and tips you might not be aware of:
  • The tendency is to coat your eyelid with primer. In reality you should use it sparingly, applying only enough for a very thin application
  • Survival paint works best if you apply it to your lid, and then leave it for a minute or two to dry before applying your shadow over top.
  • Although Survival Paint gives you more life out of your eyeshadow, how well it works does still depend on the quality of the eyeshadow you are using. Make sure you use a quality eyeshadow brand on top.
  • Some people prefer to use primer only on the lower half of their upper lid (from the crease down). This gives the effect of a vibrant eyeshadow on your lid, fading to a less vibrant, powdery shade above the crease. Try applying 2 layers of eyeshadow when applying your primer this way. The first layer over top of the primer (on the lower half of your lid), and the second layer over the entire lid.
  • Although primer is mainly used to increase the life of your eyeshadow, it is also great to make your eyeshadow appear more vibrant. Similar to mixing it with Mix Drops before applying. Shimmery eye shadows in particular, benefit from a layer of primer prior to application. This really brings out the effect of the eye shadow.
  • FaceFront Survival Paint is actually an eye and brow primer. This product is great on your brows too! It can be used on it’s own, to tame unruly brows, or prior to the application of Eye Brow Tint to make your brow colour last longer.
  • Try gently applying a small amount of FaceFront Survival Paint to the lower lash line with a brush, prior to applying pigment to this area. This gives the pigment something to stick too, and can aid in reducing the amount of fall out you experience from applying powders to this area. The primer base makes it much easier to apply eye shadow to your lower lash line (especially if you have long lower lashes)!

Gold and Brown EyeShadow

Create this look using EyeSpice Products:

Eye products you will need:
- Eyeshadow primer such as FaceFront Survival Paint
- Optional - Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops
- Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Soulful or for a more burnt gold FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Butter Me Up
FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Bitter Bark
Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Truffle
- A highlight colour such as a skin-toned colour within your Coastal Scents Contour & Blush PaletteFaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Skinny Dipper or your mineral foundation

Brushes you will need:
Sigma SS252 shader brush
Sigma SS275 angled shading brush
Sigma SS209 eye liner brush or Sigma SS266 small angle brush

Step One: Apply a small amount of eye shadow primer to your lid. We use FaceFront Survival Paint.

Step Two: Put a drop of Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops in the lid of your FaceFront Paint Me Perfect Eye Pigment in Butter Me Up. Using your Sigma SS252 Shader Brush apply this to your upper eyelid from the inner corner to the outer corner. Note, this look can also be created without the use of Mix Drops, creating a slightly less vibrant gold.

Step Three: Using the other side of your Sigma SS252 brush, apply FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Bitter Bark to the outer one third of your eyelid.  With the tip of your brush, create a point, out past your crease, keeping in line with your lower water line. Ensure Bitter Bark is well blended out to this point and across the crease. Take care when using this dark colour to avoid fall out on your cheeks. Make sure you tap excess pigment off the brush before applying. Check out our other hints for fall out in our blog.

Step Four:  Using either side of your Sigma SS252 brush, lightly blend the two colours together where they meet, so there are no harsh lines.

Step Five: Using your Sigma SS266 small angle brush or your Sigma SS209 eye liner brush, apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Truffle to your upper lid, in a line close to the lash line. Before the liner dries, smudge it out with the same brush dipped in a small amount of Bitter Bark pigment. With your Sigma SS266 brush, apply a small amount of Bitter Bark to your lower lash line, from about one third of the way along your eye, to the outer corner of your eye. Use your finger, or a clean Sigma SS275 blending brush to diffuse the colour under your eye.

Step Six: To soften the edges, and bring the colour down if you need to, apply a highlight colour. Using your Sigma SS275 angled shading brush, apply the highlight shade under the brow, and blend into the edges of your eye shadow.

Step Seven: Apply your favourite mascara, and you’re ready to go!

Sigma SS224 blending brush
Sigma SS275 angled shading brush

Sigma SS209 eye liner brush or Sigma SS266 small angle brush

Step One: Apply a small amount of eye shadow primer to your lid. We use FaceFront Survival Paint.

Step Two: Mix your black pigment with a drop of Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops. Using your Sigma SS252 Shader Brush apply this carefully to your upper eyelid from the inner corner, right across to your outer lid. Create a point out past your crease, keeping in line with your lower water line. This creates the basic shape of your eye shadow look.

Step Three (optional): Using the other side of the same brush, apply Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Emo on top of the base black. This is a matte colour which is what we need in this look. Take care when using this dark colour to avoid black fall out on your cheeks. Make sure you tap excess pigment off the brush before applying. Check out our other hints for fall out in our blog.

Step Four:  Using your Sigma SS266 small angle brush or your Sigma SS209 eye liner brush, apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black  or Stellar right across your lower lid, in a line close to the lash line. Before the liner dries, smudge it out with the same brush dipped in a small amount of black pigment.

Step Five: Take your Sigma SS239 eye shading brush and blend Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Diva to the edges of the black, taking this colour higher up on your lid and past the outer corner of your eye. Bring this colour down under the eye by blending it into the black on the lower lid. Use a clean, dry Sigma SS224 blending brush to really diffuse the colour out.

Step Six: Diffuse the bright violet into your skin by using a highlight colour with your Sigma SS275 angled shading brush. Apply both under the brow, and underneath the eye. Use the highlight colour to sharpen the lower line of the point at the outer corner of your eye.

Step Seven: Using your Sigma SS219 pencil brush, apply Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Bubbles to the inner corner of your eye, blending up and down from the point. This shimmery white pigment, with purple highlights gives your eyes a more youthful appearance, and will make your eyes pop!

Step Eight: Using your Sigma SS266 small angle brush or your Sigma SS209 eye liner brush, apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black or Stellar to your lower water line.

Step Nine: Apply your favourite false lashes and mascara, and you’re ready to go!

Don’t forget to apply a nude lip colour so you don’t detract from your eyes. We recommend Coastal Scents Smacks Lip Gloss. Check out our Handy Hint blog entry on the Perfect Lip.

Black & Gold Glamor Inspired Look From xSparkage

Saturday, March 27th, 2010 In Blog, Tutorial / No Comments

Create this look using EyeSpice products:

Eye products you will need:
- Eyeshadow primer such as FaceFront Survival Paint
- Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops
- Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Coutour
- Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Emo, or FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Heroic
- Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Tinsel
- Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black
- A highlight colour such as a skin-toned colour within your Coastal Scents Contour & Blush Palette, or your mineral foundation

Brushes you will need:
- Sigma SS252 shader brush
- Sigma SS275 tapered blending brush (optional)
- Sigma SS224 blending brush
- Sigma SS209 eye liner brush
- Sigma SS219 pencil brush

Step One: Apply a small amount of eye shadow primer to your lid. We use FaceFront Survival Paint.

Step Two: In the lid of your Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Coutour, add a drop of Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops to your eye pigment and mix to create a thick paste. Using your Sigma SS252 shader brush, press the shadow onto your eyelid from the inner corner, to three quarters the way along your lid.

Step Three: Using your Sigma SS275 tapered blending brush, dip it into your Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Dream girl or FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Heroic. Tap off as much excess product as possible. Apply this colour to the outer third of your eyelid. Create the shape of the shadow by drawing this colour out from your outer eye, on the same angle as your lower eyelid. Using your Sigma SS224 blending brush, draw the dark colour from your outer eye and along your crease blending the colour towards your inner eye. Using a clean blending brush, blend the dark colour into your skin to remove harsh lines. If you need to tone this down, use a highlight shade to tone the colour down around the edges. The highlight shade can also be used under your eyelid and drawn out under the dark line to ensure this line is smooth.

Step Four:  Dip your finger tip into your Heavenly Naturals Mineral Eye Pigment in Tinsel and press it gently over your eyelid, on top of the gold colour, and a light dusting on top of the black. Using your SS219 pencil brush, take an additional amount of Tinsel and apply it to your inner eye, blending it into  your eyelid upwards.

Step Five: Using a small brush such as your Sigma SS209 eyeliner brush or your Sigma SS219 pencil brush, draw some of the black colour down under your lower lashes, very closer to the waterline. Blend this out and dab a small amount of Tinsel at the other edge.

Step Six: Using your Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black and your Sigma SS209 eyeliner brush, draw a line of black on your upper lid, close to the lash line. Start thin in the inner corner and make slightly thicker as you get to the outer corner. Apply your gel liner to your lower water line also.

Step Seven: Apply two coats of your favourite mascara, and you’re ready to go!

Additional hints:
- With looks that pull out past your eyelid, consider drawing your eyebrows further out and down. To do this, use Heavenly Naturals Eyebrow Tint in an appropriate colour for you. Apply using your Sigma SS266 small angle brush.
- To contour your face using the Coastal Scents Contour & Blush Palette, check out our tutorial on this.
- To add even more sparkle, wait until your black eyeliner has dried, and then apply a coat of Heavenly Naturals Glitter Eyeliner in Disco Ball to your upper eyelid, close to the lash line.

Tinkerbell Inspired Eye Shadow Look from xSparkage

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 In Blog, Tutorial / No Comments

Create this look using EyeSpice Products:

Step One: Apply a small amount of eye shadow primer to your lid. We use FaceFront Survival Paint.

Step Two: Add a drop of Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops to the lid of your FaceFront Paint Me Perfect Eye Pigment in Early Spring. Mix this to the eye pigment to make a dry paste. Using your Sigma SS252 brush, apply the paste on to your entire lid, blending the colour up towards your outer brow bone.

Step Three: With your Sigma SS224 blending brush, apply Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Lemy Lime to the outer corner of your upper lid. Blend the colour into your crease and up towards your outer brow bone.

Step Four: Using your Sigma SS219 pencil brush, dab Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Kingdom to the very outer crease, blending it in circles to create a shadow. Pull this colour down under the lower lashes, and blend out past the outer corner of your eye.

Step Five: Using a dry blending brush such as the Sigma SS224 or SS275, soften the edges by blending the colours into your skin.

Step Six: Using Heavenly Naturals Chubby Cream Eye Shadow in White, dab a small amount to the inner corner of your eye and blend this out with your finger.

Step Seven: Add a drop of Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops to the lid of your Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Sun. Dab your finger in the pigment and apply gently to your lid, over top of the colours you have already blended. Try not to rub your finger across your lid, as this will smudge the base colours. For a more dramatic look, use Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Unicorn tears as your glitter overcoat. This definitely adds a bit of glitz.

Step Eight: Using your Sigma SS209 thin tipped brush, apply a line of Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black to your upper lash line. Apply Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Indigo Blue to your lower lash line (note this is not mentioned in the video tutorial).

Step Nine: Apply your favourite mascara, and before it has properly dried, add some of your glitter eye shadow to the tips of your lashes. They should stick to the mascara while it is still drying.

Step Ten (optional): Using a large powder brush such as your Sigma SS150 or SS187, apply your glitter colour to the very tip of the brush and dab it on to your temple, outer eye and upper cheek bone area. This gives you a pixie appearance, and looks great under party lighting!

Make Up Starter Kit – The Essentials

Saturday, February 27th, 2010 In Blog, Handy Hints / No Comments

If you are just getting into the make up scene and don’t really know where to start, we have come up with a list of essentials, that will get you on your way to creating flawless beauty every day.

Essential # 1: A large powder brush for the application of mineral foundation and blush. We recommend the Sigma SS150 powder brush, but some people prefer a duo fiber brush such as the Sigma SS187.

Essential #2: An eye shadow brush for the application of both base and crease eye shadow colours. A set of eye shadow brushes is ideal, but to get your started we recommend a Sigma SS252 or SS239 brush which will both give you a lot of potential.

Essential #3:  Mineral Foundation. We recommend Heavenly Naturals Mineral Foundation. After washing your face, and applying your moisturiser and sun block, even out your skin tone with the application of some mineral foundation. Mineral make up is good for your skin, allows it to breath and contains natural sun protection. Using a small amount in the lid, swirl a large powder brush in the pigment to ensure it is evenly caught in the bristles. Apply using a 3 motion to the left side of your face, and an E motion to the right side of your face. This means starting at the middle of the forehead, moving the brush down past the side of your eye, up around the apple of your cheek, down past your jaw line to your chin. Do this on each side ensuring you cover your entire face.

Essential #4: Blush Powder. We recommend Face Front CheekUp mineral blush powder. It is amazing how a little bit of colour to your cheeks gives you such a radiant glow. Apply using your large powder brush, or duo fiber brush. Apply only a small amount of colour at a time, and build up to a darker shade if necessary. When you smile, the balls of your cheeks are where you want to apply the blush colour. Apply in a circular motion and then draw the brush up your cheekbones to ensure the colour is blended evenly.

Essential # 5: Two eye shadow colours (base and crease colour). We recommend Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment, OCC Loose Colour Concentrate and FaceFront Paint Me Perfect Mineral Eye Pigments. You can create a stunning smoky eye look using just two eye shadow colours. Choose a mid-toned colour with a bit of shimmer for your base. Grey, silver and brown are very popular, but you can be more daring and choose a purple, blue or green shade. Apply this right across the eye lid using your eye shadow brush. Choose a darker colour for your crease. This can be matte or shimmer. Press the crease colour onto the outer corner of your eye lid, on top of your base colour. Using a sweeping motion, sweep the crease colour along your crease to blend nicely into the base colour. Blend the crease colour into the outer corner of your eye and up on your outer brow bone. Blend well to create a diffused look.

Essential #6: Mascara! Use a tried and tested brand, one that you are happy with.

That’s it! After you have purchased the essentials, and started experimenting with your products, you will quickly learn that there are no limits with good quality make up. You will be able to start experimenting with different coloured eye shadows, and create natural looking day time looks, and striking evening looks. Get started today and realise the limitless potential that is out there!

Step One: Apply a small amount of eye shadow primer to your lid. We use FaceFront Survival Paint.

Step Two: Add a drop of Heavenly Naturals Mix Drops into the lid of your FaceFront Paint Me Perfect Eye Pigment in Early Spring. Mix in enough of the pigment to create a dry paste. Using your Sigma SS252 brush, press the wet shadow onto your entire lid. Using more of the dry pigment, blend the colour up onto your outer lid towards the brow bone.

Step Three: Using one side of your Sigma SS239 brush, press a small amount of OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Frigid to the inner half of your lid on top of the base colour. Step Four: Using your Sigma SS224 blending brush, blend Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Daddy’s Girl into your crease. Sweep the colour up towards your brow bone.

Step Four: To create a shadow, use your Sigma SS224 brush with Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Mystery in your outer crease. Using a dry blending brush, make sure the colours are blended together nicely into your lid.

Step Five: If you need to pull the colour down, or just want to add a highlight to your brow bone, use your Sigma SS275 brush with your highlight colour. We use FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Skinny Dipper, or OCC Loose Colour Concentrates in Titania.

Step Six: Using your Sigma SS219 pencil brush, sweep your purple colour under the lower lash line and blend into the outer corner of the eye. You can use your Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Daddy’s Girl, or for a darker look, use Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Enchantress. For a more vibrant look, use FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Weekend Warrior.

Step Seven: Apply a line of black eye liner close to your upper lash line. We use Coastal Scents Gel Liner in True Black with a Sigma SS209 or SS266 brush. To add sparkle, add a line of Heavenly Naturals Glitter Eye Liner in Disco Ball on top of the black liner.

Step Eight: Finish the look off with lashings of your favourite mascara, and some false lashes if you are feeling daring!

Our Very Own Cover Girl – Create Her Look!

Monday, February 8th, 2010 In Blog, Tutorial / No Comments

We get so many people asking us how to create the most amazingly perfect eyes of our EyeSpice cover girl. Although we don’t have a video tutorial for this, you can follow the below steps to create this look, and dazzle your friends.

This is a complex one! – Grade: Difficult

What you will need:

  • Pink – use either Obsessive Compulsive Loose Colour Concentrate in Cherry Bomb, or for a more violet shade, use Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Daddy’s Girl. Another option is to use your blush colour in a more condensed way – we suggest FaceFront BlushUp in Frawn Apawn (this gives you two uses with one product)!
  • Gold – We use Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Fancy Schmancy, but you could also use Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Sun, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Loose Colour Concentrate in Auric, or FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Bee Incredible (these alternative colours give a more Summery yellow shimmer rather than gold)
  • Charcoal – We use Heavenly Naturals Eye Pigment in Dream Girl, or for a darker, smokier evening look, use FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Heroic – but only use a small amount and blend well.
  • Highlight – A highlight shade in a white tone is best used here. It softens out the pink if you choose a very bright shade. We use FaceFront Paint Me Perfect in Snow Cone, or Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Loose Colour Concentrate in Titania. But a skin coloured highlight can also be used to soften harsh edges. Try using your mineral powder foundation.
  • EyeLiner – We use Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Indigo Blue or True Black
  • Eye Brow Tint – Heavenly Naturals Eye Brow Tint comes in a range of shades to suit your brow colour
  • Your favourite mascara and some false lashes if you’re game!

Step One: After applying your Heavenly Naturals Mineral Foundation, apply a small amount of eye shadow primer to your eyelid. We use FaceFront Survival Paint.

Step Two: Using your Sigma SS252 brush, apply pink to the upper lid from just inside the inner corner, to approximately one third of the way across the lid. Also apply this colour to the outer corner of the lid, up to the brow bone.

Step Three: Using the same Sigma SS252 brush, apply the charcoal colour to the upper lid from two thirds of the way along, to the outer corner. Using a clean Sigma SS275 blending brush, blend this charcoal colour up the outer corner of your brow bone to create a diffused blended line between the pink and the charcoal. With a Sigma SS219 pencil brush, apply a small amount of charcoal into the very inner corner of your eye and sweep this upwards almost to the brow bone, blending it to diffuse into the pink colour. Also pull the colour a small way under the inner corner of your lower lid.

Step Four: Using a Sigma SS252 or SS239 brush, dab the gold colour to the very centre of your upper lid, almost to the brow bone. Using a dry Sigma SS275 blending brush, very gently blend the gold into the pink and charcoal on either side. With a very small amount of pigment on your blending brush, blend some gold to the very outer edges of the pink and charcoal colours and create a diffused appearance between the 3 colours. Pull the gold from the temple area, down below the outer corner of the lower eyelid. Using your Sigma SS219 brush, dab a small amount of gold to the lower inner corner of your eye and blend this into the charcoal.

Step Five: Using your Eye liner, draw/paint a thin line below the lower lashes from the center, to the outer corner. Let this dry for half a minute. Also draw/paint a thin line above the top lashes at the lash line.

Step Six: Using your Sigma SS209 or SS266 brush, sweep a line of charcoal from the middle of the lower lash line (on top of the eye liner), out past the corner of your outer eye to create the appearance of larger eyes.

Step Seven: If you need to use your highlight colour to tidy up any edges, highight your brow (just below your outer eye brow, or to add a bit of highight to the inner corner of your eye, do this now.

Step Eight (Finishing Touches): Add a line of eyeliner to your water line, coat your lashes with two layers of mascara and fill in your brows with eye brow tint. For the rest of your face, give your cheeks some colour, add a touch of gloss to your lips (you don’t want too much colour to detract from your eyes), and….

You’re now ready to hit the town!
